About the Founder
Rachel has a passion for educating others about gluten-related illness and for providing a service to make the gluten-free lifestyle more manageable for individuals that are trying to go down that path.
Rachel has been a nurse since 2006. She suffered for over ten years with a stomach condition, gastroparesis, before finding out that it could be controlled better with a gluten-free diet than with prescribed medications. She entered into the gluten-free world around 2007.
After meeting her husband, Nathan, Rachel introduced him to a gluten-free diet, and after they were married, she continued to educate him on celiac disease and the gluten-free world. Together, Nathan and Rachel owned and operated an organic and natural grocery store for three and a half years, until their second child came along.
Although Nathan respected Rachel’s need for a gluten-free diet, he did not completely embrace gluten-free eating until he began noticing an increase in his own negative health symptoms. After lots of testing with normal results, he went on a gluten-free diet, experienced a drastic change in the way he felt, and saw his symptoms disappear. At that point, he understood the role that gluten played in his health.
Nathan and Rachel have the desire to help others become educated on the effects of gluten to the body, the extremely high percentage of misdiagnosis, and the need for others to have resources to live a gluten-free lifestyle. Glutenwatchers was developed to provide the necessary resources for gluten-free living.
